Subject Requirements

  • A relevant Masters and current professional registration.

Academic requirements

  • A good Masters degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline, plus significant professional experience in the field. A research proposal and interview are normally required.

English Language Requirements

  • IELTS Academic or UKVI 6.0 overall with a minimum of 5.5 in each sub-skill
  • PTE Academic 60 overall with 59 in each sub-skill
  • TOEFL iBT (from 21 Jan 2026) 4 overall with no band below 4. Waivers available for recognised English-medium qualifications - check the Stirling English language waiver page.

Additional Requirements

  • Applications are free and made directly to the University (postgraduate) or through UCAS (undergraduate). Eligible self-funded international postgraduates are automatically considered for scholarships worth GBP 4,000-7,000
  • Stirling alumni receive a fee waiver for the first year of Masters study. Foundation, pre-Masters and pre-sessional English routes are available through the University of Stirling International Study Centre.
