About the Program
The MSc Data Science and Artificial Intelligence at Cardiff Metropolitan University is designed to develop advanced technical knowledge and practical skills in modern data science, machine learning and artificial intelligence. The programme covers programming for data analysis, data analytics and visualisation, AI systems design, large language models, autonomous intelligent systems and responsible AI development. Students gain experience in analysing complex datasets, building and evaluating AI-driven solutions, and applying emerging technologies to real-world challenges. The course combines practical workshops, research-informed learning and industry-related projects, preparing graduates for careers as Data Scientists, AI Developers, Machine Learning Specialists, Data Analysts, IT Consultants and technology professionals.

- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Computing

- Bachelor's Degree in another relevant technical or quantitative discipline
- Minimum UK Lower Second-Class Honours Degree (2:2) or recognised equivalent
- Suitable Professional Qualification from an appropriate professional body may be accepted
- Non-standard applicants assessed individually by the university
Academic requirements
- Recognised 4-Year Bachelor's Degree from Bangladesh
- Minimum CGPA: 2.50 out of 4.00
- North South University Bachelor's Degree: Minimum CGPA 2.20 out of 4.00 may be considered
- Qualification must be from a recognised institution
- Relevant Data Science, Computer Science, Computing, Engineering, Mathematics or Statistics background preferred
- Minimum UK 2:2 equivalent qualification required
- Professional qualifications may be considered individually
- Study gaps assessed as part of university admissions
- Final eligibility subject to academic and subject suitability assessment
English Language Requirements
- IELTS Academic: Overall 6.0, minimum 5.5 in each component
- PTE Academic: Overall 59, minimum 59 in each component
- Duolingo English Test: Overall 110, minimum 100 in each component
- TOEFL iBT (before 21 January 2026): Overall 72
- TOEFL Reading: Minimum 18
- TOEFL Listening: Minimum 17
- TOEFL Speaking: Minimum 20
- TOEFL Writing: Minimum 17
- TOEFL iBT (from 21 January 2026): Overall 4.0, minimum 4.0 in each component (new scoring scale)
- Cambridge English Advanced (CAE): Overall 169, minimum 162 in each component
- LanguageCert Academic SELT: Overall 65, minimum 60 in each component
- English Waiver / MOI Route: May be considered subject to university approval
Additional Requirements
- Minimum UK 2:2 Honours Degree or recognised equivalent
- Bangladesh: 4-Year Bachelor's Degree with minimum CGPA 2.50/4.00
- North South University: CGPA 2.20/4.00 may be considered
- Relevant Data Science, Computing, Engineering, Mathematics or Statistics background preferred
- Professional qualifications may be considered by the Programme Director
- IELTS 6.0 overall, minimum 5.5 in each component or accepted equivalent
- Relevant academic modules and technical skills assessed from Bachelor's transcript
- Admissions interview may be required to assess academic suitability
- Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) may be available for eligible Level 7 qualifications
