An NMC-approved mental health nursing degree with a values-based, reflective approach to practice.

Subject Requirements

  • Biology or a science subject preferred, plus PVG clearance and occupational health screening. Places for overseas applicants are limited.

Academic requirements

  • Completion of a recognised secondary qualification equivalent to Scottish Highers / A Levels. Bangladeshi applicants: HSC or A Levels are not normally sufficient for direct Year 1 entry - the International Study Centre foundation year, or one year of recognised university study, is the standard route.

English Language Requirements

  • IELTS Academic or UKVI 7.0 overall with a minimum of 6.5 in writing and 7.0 in speaking, listening and reading (NMC requirement)
  • PTE Academic 67 overall with 62 in writing and 67 in the other sub-skills. No waiver available for nursing.

Additional Requirements

  • Applications are free and made directly to the University (postgraduate) or through UCAS (undergraduate). Eligible self-funded international postgraduates are automatically considered for scholarships worth GBP 4,000-7,000
  • Stirling alumni receive a fee waiver for the first year of Masters study. Foundation, pre-Masters and pre-sessional English routes are available through the University of Stirling International Study Centre.
